Super Casino at Wembley
Brent Council will put forward their case to erect a regional core casino, the major betting centre in the country, to the Independent Casino Advisory Board. Under the new-fangled Gambling Act, there is stipulation for one supervised "regional" casino as well as eight of average size and eight small ones nationally, and the council are keen to stake a claim for this centerpiece.
After commissioning a revision on the communal and financial contact of the casino, both Labour and Conservative groups have agreed to backing the idea. No developer has yet been approached about the project, even though Quintain Estates, who have led the regeneration of Wembley Arena, are considering to be in pole position should the panel give their approval.
A council orator said: "Brent Council is supportive of a regional casino development in Wembley because of the a lot of additional facilities and reimbursement that such a scheme could bring to the borough, which still has unemployment levels above the nationwide average. Large scale international conferencing and convention facilities would unlock up Wembley to new markets in business tourism, and considerable value could be added to the casino present with new comfort hotels, restaurants, shops and bars, all of which would generate new jobs, new visitors and new facilities for Brent."
